Essex wedding ska band / Essex ska function band | The Skamonics
London ska band
rocksteady and unusual covers
female vocals and blazing horns
festivals, weddings and functions
most age and clique smashing sound I have ever heard’
Jazzy ska from its 60s roots, 2-tone and unexpected covers
The Skamonics play a unique and floor-filling mix of authentic 60s jazzy ska, two-tone and completely unexpected covers.
A driving rhythm section provides a firm foundation for three blazing horns and a top female vocalist.
We play a wide mix of gigs, but specialise in weddings and functions and can provide our own PA and DJ to cover all your music needs. Essex is well within our travelling range, and we are more than happy to travel to Essex towns such as Chelmsford, Harlow, Basildon, Colchester and Southend. We are a great Essex wedding band.
Ska appeals to a wide age-range, without becoming dull and inoffensive. It’s ideal for any event where there will be a mix of people – the Skamonics themselves have members in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s.
Ska evergreen “I’m in the Mood For Love” is a classic first song for any wedding.
Everyone remembers the Madness and Specials tunes from the two-tone era. We add a jazzy twist with our tight horn section.
Our covers of tunes as diverse as Tainted Love, Tears for Fears’ Enola Gay and Nina’s 99 Red Ballons extend our appeal further.
And of course we play old and new ska classics too. From My Boy Lollipop , dating from ska’s 60s birth to the up-to-date Paolo Nutini’s Ten out of Ten.
