The Skamonics are a London based ska band, playing a unique and floor-filling mix of authentic 60s jazzy ska, two-tone and completely unexpected covers.
A driving rhythm section provides a firm foundation for three blazing horns and a top female vocalist.
We play a wide mix of gigs across London. We have played many established music venues such as the 100 Club, Hootananny and Gaz’s Rockin’ Blues. We have been part of many club nights. We have even taken ska to the Jamaican High Commission.
We specialise in weddings and functions and can provide our own PA and DJ to cover all your music needs. We have played weddings in City Livery Halls, Kenwood House and many pubs. We pride ourselves on being a great London wedding band.
Ska appeals to a wide age-range, without becoming dull and inoffensive. It’s ideal for any event where there will be a mix of people – the Skamonics themselves have members in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. And of course we are never happier than playing for a room full of ska fans.
Ska evergreen “I’m in the Mood For Love” is a classic first song for any wedding.
Everyone remembers the Madness and Specials tunes from the two-tone era. We add a jazzy twist with our tight horn section.
Our covers of tunes as diverse as Tainted Love, Tears for Fears’ Enola Gay and Nina’s 99 Red Ballons extend our appeal further.
And of course we play old and new ska classics too. From My Boy Lollipop , dating from ska’s 60s birth to the up-to-date Paolo Nutini’s Ten out of Ten.
