This is what the organisers say about the film:<\/p>\n
London in the 1950\u2019s was a cold place
\nin more ways than the obvious. Or
\nso it appeared if you were one of the
\nthousands of newly arrived Jamaicans.
\nMany were overqualified for their menial
\njobs. Thousands of others quite simply
\ncould not get work. Discrimination and
\nracial tensions culminated in fierce riots in
\nboth Nottingham and Notting Hill Gate. It
\nwas in this environment that the Jamaican
\nsoundmen; Duke Vin and Count Suckle
\narrived in the UK. They both stowed away
\non a boat from Kingston and brought with
\nthem a sound that was sweeping across
\nthe small Caribbean island and would
\nlater change the face of music in the UK.
\nThis was the sound of Ska!
