We play a lot of weddings. Ska is ideal music for weddings as its appeal crosses generations and gets people on their feet dancing. Live music really makes a day feel special.
A wedding
“A big thank you to you and all the band. We all loved it so much. It’s the coolest, most age and clique smashing sound I have ever heard. We had a diverse mix at the wedding and everyone loved it!!”
A wedding
“Thank you very very very much to the Skamonics for making our wedding reception so special. The band were absolutely brilliant and we had a fantastic time. If anyone ever asks to speak to a client please do not hesitate to put them in touch with us. “

“You were brilliant. Thank you so much. You really made the party and thank you for playing so late.”
Where?
We have played receptions at many venues ranging from the big Blackheath Halls, hotel function rooms, historic buildings, a City of London livery hall, a barn and countless marquees.
We have travelled across much of the southern half of the country to play not just in London, but Sussex, Kent, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
Technical
Our own PA has usually been enough to fill the venue. That means there is no need for you to hire in separate sound equipment. We can provide an experienced DJ to provide music for the rest of the evening, or you can plug in your phone or other equipment. Of course larger venues (such as Blackheath Halls) will need a more substantial sound system – we can provide our technical requirements.
We know that many people have never hired a live band before and will want some advice on how best to work with us. We are happy to help – we know just how important it is to make this your special day. The many testimonials we can supply and our long life as a band – ten years – should be a testament to our professionalism.
A special song?
We are sometimes asked to play a special song for a first dance. If we are given enough notice and it’s a song that fits with our format, we can often do so. Other couples have chosen “I’m in the mood for love” or “Fly me to the moon” from our repertoire as an ideal medium.
Pricing
To give you a price we will need as much information as possible. It will depend on the time commitment and how far we have to travel. Fill in the no-obligation form on our booking page and we will get back to you.
Set-up
If there is one thing that we stress with wedding and function clients it is that it takes some time for us to set up and sound check properly. Ideally this should be done before guests are in the room we are playing. The minimum this takes is an hour – and a bit longer is preferable.
You can see what is involved – though not how long it takes in this time lapse video of the band setting up for a birthday party.
Experience
We often write up our wedding gigs on our blog. Here are some links.
