New gig at Stockwell’s Cavendish Arms @cavendisharms May 17

Cavendish Arms May17 We have a new gig playing at the Cavendish Arms – fast becoming our favourite venue and where we did our recent photo-shoot.

Their music room has a great retro vibe and very good sound.

It’s on Friday May 17th and admission is free.

The Cavendish Arms is easy to get to as it’s near both Stockwell and Vauxhall stations. And it does good food too.

There’s a Facebook event here you can use to say that you are coming and to invite your friends.

We played for Mike’s 50th birthday party at a pub called the Horse, near Waterloo.

The rumours that it was called the Cow until recently are entirely untrue.

It was a lot of fun, and the dancing in the second set suggested that the guests enjoyed it too. There were certainly no long faces,

Mike liked it too:

“I had a great time – everyone loved the band, thanks so much. All the best. Mike”

There’s a special gold start for Leah, as she came from her sick bed.

We don’t have any photos, but this is what we played.

FIRST SET SECOND SET
Guns Of Navarone James Bond
Latin Goes Ska Work Song
Mood For Love Skaravan
You’re Wondering Now 10 Out Of 10
Alley Cat Ska 99 Red Balloons
Man In The Street Tainted Love
Mambo Number 5 Rudy A Message To You
Fly me to the moon My Boy Lollipop
Can’t Get You Out … Monkey Man
Enola Gay Baggy Trousers
Price Tag Israelites
Tequila Night Boat To Cairo
Gangsters (Vocal)

New Gig! – Feb 1 – Stockwell – Cavendish Arms

We have a new gig.

It’s on Friday February 1st at the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell. It looks a good music friendly venue, and we will be playing as one of a number of bands during the evening sometime between 8pm and 11pm. We don’t yet know the other bands or running order yet.

The pub is 128 Hartington Rd, Stockwell, SW8 2HJ. The nearest tube is Stockwell, but it’s also pretty near Vauxhall for people coming in on Waterloo bound mainline trains.

When we have more info we will paste it here – and of course we will refer to it endlessly on our Facebook page.

The Facebook event is here

Expect to hear this

10 things you need to know about Saturday's Skamonics gig @SebrightArms

By

Dec 11, 2012 gig Comments are off
  1. It’s at the Sebright Arms in Bethnal Green. This is their website. Here’s a map. Bethnal Green is the nearest tube. Cambridge Heath and Hoxton are also nearby stations. It’s usually possible to park nearby.
  2. It’s on Saturday. I think we might have said that. Saturday December 15th in case there is any confusion.
  3. Doors will open at 8:30 for the basement venue where we will be playing. Of course the pub upstairs will be open before that, and is well known for good food.
  4. It costs £5 to get in. That all goes to the two bands playing. We are promoting this ourselves.
  5. There are two bands. You have probably worked out that one of them is the Skamonics. The other band is, our good friends, the Electric Cucumbers. Our guitarist Frank becomes their bass player, Professor Frank.  We expect a costume change.
  6. It’s equal billing and both bands will play for an hour. The Skamonics will play first at 8:45 (prompt!). The Cucumbers will follow at about 10pm.
  7. It’s Christmas. We will probably play a ska’ed up version of a cheesy Christmas song for your delectation. We promise not to wear Santa hats. But that doesn’t stop you.
  8. If you want to invite your friends, then you can use this Facebook event.
  9. If you want a flyer, here it is. Or as an A4 PDF

  10. And if you don’t know what we sound like, where have you been? Here’s a video from our last gig at the Sebright Arms.

We are looking forward to our next gig returning to the Sebright Arms in Bethnal Green – not just a great venue but a good pub with excellent food.

We are promoting this gig ourselves so we need all the help we can in getting people there.

It was a great gig last time we played there – as you can see.

You can invite people through this Facebook event.

Our Ritzy gig

By

Oct 18, 2012 gig, pictures, Ritzy, setlist Comments are off

We had fun playing the Ritzy in Brixton last week.

So did the audience from the amount of dancing that went on.

We played our version of Chariots of Fire – which of course is now Chariots of Ska – for the first time – and revived our version of Dr Who which we haven’t played for ages.

This is what I think we played. And there are some photos below.

Guns Of Navarone

Latin Goes Ska

Double Barrel

Mambo Number 5

Mood For Love

Can’t Get You Out …

Enola Gay

Price Tag

Chariots Of Ska

James Bond

Dr Who

99 Red Balloons

Tainted Love (Vocal)

Gangsters (Vocal)
