We had a great time yesterday afternoon playing for an end of term party for staff of a west London school.
None of us have ever been asked to such an occasion before but it was a lot of fun, with much dancing and perhaps the best sing-alongs we have ever had.
And Ian, our guest tenor sax player, still had time to get to another two gigs that evening.
The Skamonics played at our wedding, just under 10 years ago, and were one of the highlights of the day! We were wondering whether you might be free to play at our 10 year wedding anniversary party, which is on 24 November this year.
And so last night we made our way to the Hackney Coffee Company to play two sets. This was our first gig for some time and we had a blast. Remi joined us on guitar as special guest for his first gig with us, and having played in a ska band in Poland for ten years he was a natural fit.
We took a rushed picture at the sound check (before we had changed) and this is what we played:
We had a great time playing a sixtieth birthday party in Southgate last night.
It was a bit special as the party was celebrating the birthday of Chris’s mum – so we put him centre stage.
We got to play a full two sets, and as a special request, we slotted in some Stevie Wonder tunes – only one of which has any relation to the ska, rocksteady and early reggae that we play, so we made Chris play the tricky bits.
We don’t have any photos, but this is what we played.
We played a private party gig on Saturday – in fact a significant birthday for our bass player Nigel.
We managed to video and record the gig, so after we have had the chance to do some mixing and editing, we should have some reasonably good quality live video of the band.
